Use the RIGHT fertilizer. There are different types of fertilizer that can be used in all 4 seasons. Make sure you purchase the correct one during the cold months. Here is a list of different types to use, if you are applying yourself.
DO NOT forget final manicuring. Aeration should be completed well in advance of the winter freeze so you can give your landscaping a chance to recover before the ground freezes over.
DO NOT forget to water your outdoor plants. If there is no snow or no rain, do not forget to water your plants. They still get thirsty in the winter.

During the long cold winter months, many of our clients forget about their trees. This is a big mistake commonly made by homeowners. The correct timing of pruning can be very important for specific species of trees and for some the correct time is during the dormant season.
Winter dormant pruning is done shortly before spring growth. Doing so leaves fresh wounds exposed for a short period of time before the wound healing process begins.
Advantages of Winter Dormant Pruning
For some species pruning during the dormant season is the best time for the tree.
Thinning the canopy and removing dead wood reduces storm damage potential.
Deciduous plants are leaf free, allowing for more accurate pruning and reduced cleanup times.
Insects and disease spores are inactive during the winter, reducing the chance for infestation.
Rejuvenation and clearance pruning can he performed with minimal risk of promoting sucker growth.
Emergency tree services can also be much needed during the winter. Heavy snow, ice and damaging winds can cause devastating effects on trees. Winter dormant pruning can help reduce these risks. Unsure if your tree’s are at risk this winter??

With the American National Standard for pruning, ANSI A300, specifications can be written in a virtual infinite number of combinations. The following information is designed to help you understand exactly what will be accomplished in a pruning operation.
A minimum or maximum diameter size of branches to be removed should be specified in a ll pruning operations. This establishes how much pruning is to be done.
Pruning objectives should be established prior to beginning any pruning operation. A300 provides two basic objectives.
Hazard Reduction Pruning
Hazards reduction pruning (HRP) is recommended when the primary objective is to reduce the danger to a specific target caused by visibly defined hazards in a tree. For example, HRP may be the primary objective if a tree had many dead limbs over a park bench.
Hazard reduction pruning and maintenance pruning should consist of one or more of the pruning types noted below.
Crown Cleaning…Crown cleaning shall consist of the selective removal of one or more of the following items: dead, dying, or diseased branches, weak branches and waterspouts.
Crown Thinning…Crown thinning shall consist of the selective removal of branches to increase light penetration, air movement, and reduce weight.
Crown Raising…Crown raising shall consist of the removal of the lower branches of a tree to provide clearance.
Crown Reduction or Crown Shaping... Crown reduction decreases the height and/or spread of the tree. Consideration should be given to the ability of a species to sustain this type of pruning.
Vista Pruning…Vista pruning is selective thinning of framework limbs or specific areas of the crown to allow a view of an object from a predetermined point.
Crown Restoration…Crown Restoration pruning should improve the structure, form and appearance of trees which have been severely headed, vandalized, or storm damaged.

Tree’s offer a wide variety of benefits to your landscape. Trees clean the air you breathe, provide you and your family with oxygen and can even help save water. While these are just a few of the benefits, they are all the reasons on why we only like yo remove trees that cannot be saved.
Tree removals are performed on dead and /or dying trees as well as trees that have become hazardous and cannot be saved by any other accepted means. Our professional Arborist can help you decide whether your tree needs to removed or not. When it is decided that tree removal is necessary, our professionally trained experts will remove your trees safely and efficiently.
Tree removals are the most hazardous aspect of Arboriculture and should only be performed by professionals. Tree’s that need to be removed are often growing near home, power lines and other confined areas. Tree removal requires proper training and experience to successfully and safely complete the removal.
